Serena Williams shared her discomfort after discovering decorative cotton plants at a hotel in New York City.
“Now, guys. How do you feel about cotton as a decoration?” she asked fans via Instagram stories on Thursday, walking towards the factory in the hallway.
She added, “Personally, I don’t feel good for me.” On another slide, she picked a cotton ball from the branch and took it to the thumbnail, saying, “It feels like nail polish cotton.”
Tennis, 43, visibly trembled before walking from the camera.
Williams was in New York to support Kim Kardashian’s Skim/Nike collaboration. It is unknown which hotel she is staying at.
A Williams representative did not immediately return a request for further comment on Page 6.
Williams’ unpleasant moment comes amidst a social media backlash over the athlete’s partnership with GLP-1 medical company Ro.
In a promotional clip shared by the company in August, she appears to have injected herself a weight loss pill that her body claimed was “needed.” “As I always have, I make informed choices for my health and body,” the co-post caption read.
Some followers of the comment thread responded to the disappointment.
“‘After the kids, this is the medicine my body needed.” What’s fantasy, in this case, can undo all progression by letting the woman know that she will take the time to recover and not regain its form,” one follower wrote.
“It’s a shame as an athlete and influencer, I’m repeating the story of how you need to take medication to become healthy and achieve acceptable beauty,” another said.
“This video really made me sad and disappointed.”
“What Serena is really saying: It doesn’t matter how successful, strong, strong you are. If you’re not thin, that doesn’t matter. That’s very sad,” the third person cried.
Williams revealed in an interview with people in August that he is the latest celebrity to take advantage of GLP-1 weight loss pills.
“It feels good,” she told the outlet during her dramatic weight loss conversion. “I feel really healthy and healthy. I feel physically and mentally light.”
