Pete Davidson shares how his mother’s words encouraged him to stay calm.
Appearing on comedian Theo Fong’s podcast last weekend, with Theo Fong on Tuesday, September 23rd, the Saturday Night Live alum spoke about her close bond with her mother, Amy.
“She was the most supportive of all time. It was when I was in rehabilitation that she called me and “My biggest fear is turning on the news and seeing my son passed away,” Davidson said.
“And she never did that because she’s so supportive and just wants to be proactive all the time,” shared Davidson, 31.
“Yes. And she’s already lost what she loved,” adds Fon, 45, referring to Scott Davidson, the late father of Davidson, a New York City firefighter who passed away on September 11th.

“I want to marry a nurse,” Fong joked.
“Look how cute my mother is. She’s just a sweet woman. She’s never dated after her dad passed away. She just raised me and my sister alone and worked hard,” Davidson added.
When Fon praised Davidson’s close bond with his family, the SNL alumni said, “I’m a lucky guy in that respect. I have a really supportive and cool family that I’ve never asked for anything.

The comedian and actor have been open for a long time about his drinking journey and mental health. In July 2024, Davidson checked into a wellness facility a year after he previously sought treatment to address issues related to PTSD and borderline personality disorder.
Davidson also began a long process of removing his tattoo. He details in Variety in April.
“I used to be a drug addict and sad person. I felt ugly and I felt I needed to cover up,” Davidson told the outlet. “So I’m just getting rid of them and starting to get fresh because I think that’s the best for me and for my brain.”
He continued, “When I look in the mirror, I don’t want to remind you, ‘Oh, you were an f————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————– ”
The comedian “disclosed that you have to plan a tattoo removal session between work. He also explained that one tattoo removal would take 10-12 sessions, totalling 60 weeks, meaning the entire process would “take another 10 years.”
