Alyssa Milano revealed that she removed breast implants to let go of her “sexualized” and “abused” body.
“Today, I’m releasing those false stories, I’m releasing a part of me that wasn’t actually part of me,” the “charmed” actress wrote on Instagram on Wednesday along with her image in the hospital.
“I let go of my sexualized body and was abused. I believed it was necessary to be attractive. To be loved, to be successful, to be happy.”
Milan, 52, said she hopes that by removing the implants, her 11-year-old daughter Elizabela “Bella” Buguriari never forms “the same unhealthy demands.” (Milan is also the mother of son Milo, 14, whom she shares with her husband, David Bugliari.)
“Now I want to make it clear that many women find freedom and beauty when choosing implants,” “Who is the boss?” alum continued.
“The false story for me may be the right thing for them, and I am very pleased that we all can find femininity and peace in our own words,” she added.
Milan said she was “loved”, “feminine”, “attractive”, “successful” and not due to her breast implants.
“When I’m awake and they’re gone, I’ll still be all of them,” she wrote. “There is so much joy in that knowledge and freedom in letting go of things I never did in the first place. Today, I am the real self. Today, I am free.”
Milano then edited the caption to provide fans with an update on what happens after the surgery.
“Update: I’m eating food my mom made for me in bed. Thank you for all the kind words. Thank you for your support,” she wrote.
The “Commando” star’s comments section was flooded with sweet messages from several celebrities.
“Love you! Your liberation will inspire and release others!” written by singer Nicole Schelzinger.
“I’m excited for you! Healing is a real baby! Let’s meet on the light side,” singer Michelle Bizage added.
“Honey Honey” and “Abbott Elementary School” star Lisa Anne Walter commented.
Milan is openly about being sexualized in Hollywood.
In a 2021 interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the two moms said they were primarily offered roles that required her to be fully dressed.
“In the 90s, everything was a lot of sexual desire. Those were the roles I was offered,” Milan told host Drew Barrymore.
“It was 300 episodes of Samantha Miseli, so it wasn’t funny for people to hire me,” she said.
“So I feel like I did what I had to do to keep up with my work.
