It’s time for Rob Low to hit the “floor” again.
The fourth season of “9-1-1: Lone Star” debuted on Fox on Wednesday at Alum Lowe’s Trivia Challenge, with some new twists, including US-themed competitions and the chance to really ruin it with fellow competitors.
“The stakes are big and there are some new wrinkles in the game, but I think it’s very cool,” Lowe told Variety. “First of all, we play nations against states, so all states and countries are represented. This is really fun. I was born in Virginia, raised in Ohio and spent my life in California, so I was rooting for those three states.

Are you ready to play “Host Lob” in “The Floor”? Will you come naturally at this point?
What surprised me the most was how much I look forward to doing a show every year. That’s because you can use muscles that are not available for other jobs. It’s part of one person’s show and part of a stand-up comic act. You have to think on the spot like a producer, what do you lean on? What do you want to talk about? What are you not talking about? It is part of the air transport controller. Because there are people who remind you of the gameplay and stakes and where the game is heading. It’s all on a big, beautiful stage and has a live audience. There’s so much stimulation that I really made it up. And I think my favorite part is what Ad-Lib can do. A joke with the player, that’s certainly my favorite part.
What is the particularly good incident of jokes that you can tease from “Floor” season 4?
Now, when I realized that one of the categories was “Brat Pack,” I was like, “Boy, if my photo wasn’t the first, hell would be paid.”

yes! This is one of the smartest and boldest scripts I’ve read in years. And he is basically a first-time director and a first-time writer. And to see newcomers with this level of craft and intelligence and confidence, it reminds me that I read “Thank you for smoking” years ago, and it was very much giving me like the “election” vibe of Young Alexander Payne.
There is also the horror film “The Third Parent.” It is based on a viral internet horror story.
Yes, it’s a Bleecker Street movie I made in the spring and I think it’ll come out on the day of February release. It is based on a truly strange and strange, sort of cult subreddit about a human legend that might enter a person’s house and embrace hostages, perhaps a human legend, perhaps creative, perhaps robotic alien legend. It’s very creepy. And when I played my father and they told me who was playing the strange alien and said it was Crispin’s Glover, I was.
Just as you’ve finished the “9-1-1” franchise, which ended Ryan Murphy’s “9-1-1” franchise in the spring, your brother is working on ABC’s new spinoff, “9-1-1: Nashville,” which will premiere this fall. Are you keeping up with what they’re doing and comparing notes about new emergencies?
I’m really excited. I’ve got a live update from my brother Chad, the executive producer/director. I play golf with Chris O’Donnell. Kimberly Williams Pisley I worked together twice. He is the most adorable and wonderful woman. And there are a few other people on the show I know. I keep hearing people go, “It’s crazy! We’re hanging from the bridge!” “Yeah, that’s what you signed up!” I’m happy that you don’t have to wear firefighter clothes in the summer of Nashville. That’s the best thing I’ve thought of.
Do you think you’re recreating your role as Owen Strand in Nashville?
I love Owen Strand and I love the way people miss that character. It means a lot to me that people really relate to him and liked him. And I won’t rule out anything, but I don’t think there are any plans to do that at this time.
