Joanna, Chip Gaines, if children have “entrepreneurship” (exclusive)

Joanna and Chip Gaines may be raising mini entrepreneurs.

The Magnolia Network founder has been taking part in the show while chatting with people before making a guest appearance on Shark Tank and revealing what he’s looking for in his investment. During the conversation, Joanna, 47, and Chip, 50, also share their thoughts on whether their kids have more business insights.

“Each of our kids has a bit of that entrepreneurial spirit in their own way,” Joanna tells people. “Some are dreamers, creative. Some are doers, more practical. I love watching them get curious and follow their interests.”

Reflecting his wife’s feelings, Chip explains that they are “not trying to push in any direction” when it comes to their future.

“We try not to push them in one direction, but we love watching them explore ideas and run together,” says Chip. “Joe and I have experienced firsthand the value of being around you, who believe in your ideas and who spurs you when you feel like you have feelings for something.

Joanna and Chip are parents of five children: daughter Emmy, 15, Ella, 18, and crew of 18, son, 7, Duke, 17, Drake, 20.

“All the kids were really excited for us, and it’s definitely a show we’ve seen as a family over the years,” she shares. “Our youngest crew took it the most literal thing we loved. Our good friends surprised him with shark fins when they said we were going to join the show.

“To be honest, I can’t remember many moments from that trip when he wasn’t wearing those fins,” she adds. “He was wearing them on the plane. He slept inside them. He was tied up on his back all day during filming.”

Chip tells people that his son, wearing shark fins, is a “outstanding memory.”

“It’s an outstanding memory for me,” he says. “The sweet crew, dressed in these shiny silver shark fins, running throughout the set.”

“To be honest, it calmed my nerves a bit,” admits the proud dad. “We fought some of those butterflies to see the crew explode.”
