Matt Frucci takes the reins of “NBC Nightly News” as the new executive producer. This is a change that comes whenever the Signature News Program appoints a new anchor. Tom Lamas took the program reins from Leicester Holt in June.
Furch is also continuing to anchor the show that Show Llamas, executive producer of Top Stories, will be streaming to the NBC News Now service, according to Janelle Rodriguez, executive vice president of programming at NBC News. He took over the position he had previously been detained by Meghan Rafferty and resigned from his position at Werst as the vice president of news standards. Bersant, the parent of MSNBC and CNBC, will be spin-off from NBCuniversal at the end of 2025.
“Matt knows “nightlies” both inside and outside. Over six years as the weekend edition EP, he led the show to multiple seasons of victory,” Rodriguez told staff in a memo on Monday. “He also served as the EP for countless NBC News Primetime Specials and Breaking News coverage, including an Emmy Award-winning report to the US Capitol on January 6th.”
Frucci joined NBC News in 2016. He previously worked at CNN, where he helped develop “Leaders with Jake Tapper” and launched an edition of CNN’s morning show, known as “New Day.” Frucci began his career as a desk assistant at ABC News, spending nearly a decade at a Disney-supported outlet.
Ben Mayer will continue as Senior Broadcast Producer for “Night Rise.”
Frucci is scheduled to begin a new mission on October 6th.
