Red Alert, a four-part script series depicting Hamas’ 2023 attack on Israel, marks two years since the tragedy on Paramount+ October 7th.
All four episodes of the series will be released on Paramount+ Global in Israel’s Keshet 12. Created, written and directed by Lior Chefetz (“The Stronghold”, “Sky Raiders”), “Red Alert” was produced by Keshet Media Group and Oscar candidate Lawrence Bender, creating Green Production and the Israeli Entertainment Fund.
The series depicts real life events on October 7, 2023, with over 1,200 people being killed near the Gaza border and 250 people being lured. “By drawing from the true experiences of survivors, the series is woven into a cinematic tale of devastating terrorist attacks that transform Southern Israel into a war zone, test humanity and build heroes through chaos,” reads the press release.
“Red Alert” follows several civilians whose lives are intertwined on a fateful day, including “Batsheba (Rotemsera), a mother who is forced to run away with her two daughters when her son is taken to Gaza. He hides with a baby behind the enemy line. Injured son, Itamar (Nebo Katan),” the release continues.
Paramount CEO and Chairman David Ellison said in a statement that the series “emphasizes Paramount’s continued commitment to storytelling through artistic excellence and accuracy. This critical series will surprise the world with its disastrous precision on October 7th, thanking the true life story of Heroism and Heartbreak.
The series’ announcement comes after Paramount criticized a petition that around 4,000 industry figures, including Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix, pledged not to cooperate with the Israeli film agency in the ongoing war in Gaza.
“I disagree with recent efforts to boycott Israeli filmmakers. Silence of individual creative artists based on their nationality will not better understand or advance the causes of peace.” “The global entertainment industry needs to encourage artists to tell their stories and share ideas with audiences around the world. We need more engagement and communication.
