Carly Cross met her husband, Joshua Kushner, when she was 19, and they were together for over 10 years. But they are not super public in their relationship. In April 2018, Kloss told Net-A-Porter’s Porter Magazine that he cited fashion designer Carolina Herrera, not necessarily intentional.
“I didn’t want to be such a secret about my personal life. Carolina Herrera always says, “Women, who are open books, are boring. There’s no more mystery.” I know what really matters to me in my life. ”
She said, “I’m not trying to hide it from the world. I really like having more personal life. But I have nothing to hide!”
But things got even more complicated as Kushner’s brother Jared became a public figure as Ivanka Trump’s husband and senior adviser to Donald Trump during his first presidency. Cross was often questioned and frequently in hot seating, and she would have been the wife of someone who was involved in a family that had nothing to do with the rebellion.
However, they appear to have overcome the storm and are hoping for a third child who announced their pregnancy in March 2025. Here is the full timeline of the relationship between Carly Kross and Joshua Kushner.
June 2012
The couple has been dating since 2012, but the details of how they met are mysterious. The only reason the public knows so much is because Kloss tweeted in 2016, “I met my best friend four years ago.”
November 2012
However, in the fall of 2012, US Weekly established that they were together and they were discovered on a date at the 2012 Secret Fashion Show After Party in Victoria.
January 2014
The pair became Instagram officials in 2014. The model states that her boyfriend is “usually behind the camera,” and he certainly posts many photos of Kloss on Instagram.
February 2014
In an interview with Metro US, Cross said of her relationship, “I definitely didn’t plan to fall in love, but I think that’s what it is. You can’t anticipate or plan it.”
April 2017
There were rumors that the couple was engaged, but the modeler said the speech was “not entirely true.”
July 2018
And a year later, it was completely true. Kloss announced her engagement on Instagram, saying, “I love you more than there are words to express. Josh, you are my best friend and my soulmate. I can’t wait together forever.
October 2018
The couple got married several months later on October 18th in upstate New York. Cross shared their photos on the wedding look on X, known as Twitter. Kloss later disabled his account on the platform.

Kushner Inc., a book on the family of author Vicki Ward, claimed that Joshua’s father disliked Cross and “had become “troubled” with his son because he “didn’t think he was the ‘right person’ for him.”
June 2019
Unhappy with one wedding, they held their second ceremony in Wyoming at Brush Cree Crunch in Saratoga. Cross called Kushner her “cowboy.”
July 2019
While talking to British Vogue, Cross admitted that his relationship with the Kushner family was “hard.”
“But I choose to focus on the values I share with my husband. These were the same liberal values that I was raised and led me throughout my life,” she said. “It was 2012 (when we met). It was a different world. My guy and I spent a lot together. I’m so proud that he is my partner. It wasn’t easy, but it’s worth it.
January 2020
Kloss went viral online after his family was raised in person during the January 2 episode of Project Runway. The contestants were tasked with Cross designing the dress to wear to an event in Paris. Designer Tyler Niesronie was criticized for the appearance of Judge Brandon Maxwell and was told “is definitely “wearable” in some places not in Paris, Montauk or Martha’s Vineyards.
Neasloney replied, “Don’t you even have dinner with Kushners?”
The internet was amused by the horrifying looks that she also received from mentioning Cross’s husband on the show.
“I was honored to be one of the first memes of the decade, but honestly, the real tragedy of this whole thing is that no one is talking about how bad the dress is. So he went home. No, I don’t wear that dress for dinner,” she said.
She then said, “Andy, I’m sure I’m not the only person in this country. This doesn’t necessarily agree with my family about politics. I voted as a Democrat in 2016. I’m going to do the same in 2020.”
March 2020
Sources told Weekly in March 2020 that Cross and Kushner “we’re about to have a baby for a few months now,” as they thought “this is the right time.”
October 2020
Cross posted a video of her and Kushner dancing for the anniversary at the reception.
“I fall in love with you more every day❤️,” she wrote. “Happy 2nd Anniversary @Joshuakshner.” Kushner, on his side, shares a candid shot of his wife, writing:
That same month, a year later, it was confirmed that Kloss was expecting. A source close to Kloss said, “Karlie is delighted to be expecting her first child in 2021. She will be the most amazing mother.”
March 2021
Cross welcomed her first child, the couple’s son Levi. Kushner broke the news on Instagram, sharing his first photo and captioned “Welcome to the World.”
April 2021
Cross shared the baby’s name and date of birth on April 16th.
September 2022
Kushner shared a very rare photo of her mother and son. “Royal (Levi) Tannenbaum,” he wrote.
May 2023
In May 2023, Cross became pregnant with her second child and debuted her baby bump on the red carpet at the Met Gala.
“Carly only told a few close friends about this pregnancy, and she and Joshua are very excited to expand their family,” a source told us each week, just before the big release. “Carly is relieved that everyone knows now.”
July 2023
The supermodel and her husband announced that they had welcomed their second child by posting on Instagram on July 11, 2023. Kushner shared a partial photo of the boy wrapped in blue on July 13th, writing, “Welcome to the World.”
A week later, Cross announced that the baby’s name was Elijah Jude in her second Instagram post.
September 2023
The pair took part in a match at the US Open on September 6, 2023.
February 2024
On Thursday, February 1st, the couple returned together in Florida, attended a chase event near Miami Beach before strolling the boardwalk. Cross held her husband’s arm while they walked. She put on pale yellow pants and a white blouse and placed her hair in the middle. Kusher wore a dark blue cardigan with pants and a button-down shirt.
March 2025
On March 17th, Cross revealed that she and Kushner were expecting a third child together. “Three’s A Party🥹🫶🎉,” she wrote on Instagram along with a carousel of maternity photos. In a statement to Vogue, the model added, “Family is everything to me. Josh and I are extremely grateful for this blessing.”

On the May 20 episode of Emmagrede’s Aspire podcast, Kloss reflected on how she met her husband when she shaped her life as a teenager.
“My husband, Josh, we’ve been together since we were 19. We’ve grown up together. He’s always been my biggest champion,” Cross explained, saying that Kushner is a great supporter as he worked as a model and raised two children.
“In this adjustment to motherhood, he said, ‘Carly, you can’t lose yourself. You won’t be happy, and our kids will feel it,” she said. “That’s what I’m grateful for. He was my mirror like that.”
Cross thought of when they first started dating, when she was used to New York.
“We started to join us as young as we were 19. He was 25 or 26,” she recalled. “He was very early in his career. I want to remind him that he was much more successful for a very long time. I’ve never met anyone like him. He was a very kind man.
Cross continued. “I just moved to New York and I was really lucky to see him (he). I couldn’t imagine seeing the love of my life at age 19. We are so young, we grew together, so I think our partnership is part of the reason why it’s so solid.”

On September 20th, the couple announced that their daughter, Ray Florence, would arrive on Instagram. They shared photos of the infant wrapped in white, pink and blue blankets, and in the caption she shared her name and date of birth. They welcomed Ray on September 18th.
