Jimmy Kimmel was seen in Los Angeles after a late-night talk show was “indefinitely” from ABC following his recent comments about Charlie Kirk’s death.
Photos taken on Thursday, September 18th showed Jimmy Kimmel Live! The 57-year-old host said that Nexstar will leave the vehicle in Los Angeles within 24 hours of the announcement that its owned and partner television stations belonging to the ABC TV network will pre-empt Jimmy Kimmel Live. Sinclair later did the same, with ABC pulling the show from its nationwide schedule.

Among the many celebrities who have expressed their support for Kimmel is Stephen Colbert. He mentioned Kimmel’s removal from the schedule, in the form of “blatant censorship.” The comedian added that the late show was cancelled by CBS in July, “In a dictator, you can’t give an inch… Jimmy, I’m standing 100% with you and your staff.”
ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! From the schedule indefinitely on Wednesday, September 17th, two days after commenting on Kirk on Monday, September 15th. Kirk was shot dead on September 10th at the age of 31 while speaking at Utah Valley University’s campus event.
“We struck out some new lows over the weekend, trying desperately to characterise this child who killed Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them, and trying to do everything we could to score political points from there,” Kimmel said Monday.
He went on to discuss President Donald Trump’s “sadness” process. It’s Kimmel compared to “how a 4-year-old child laments goldfish.”

During the segment, a clip was asked how Trump was endured after his “friend” was killed, and the president replied, “I think it’s very good, and there’s a look at all the trucks, they’ve just begun building a new ballroom for the White House.”
Trump, who was visiting the UK when the show was pulled indefinitely, said, “Jimmy Kimmel was fired for having the worst reviews above all else and said something horrible about a great man named Charlie Kirk.”
“Jimmy Kimmel is not a talented person. He had a very bad review. They should have fired him a long time ago,” he continued. “You can call that freedom of speech. He was fired for his lack of talent.”
Additionally, Trump issued a second statement, claiming that the licensed network “is not permitted” to him because it gives him “completely bad publicity.”

“They’re licensed, you think they should take away their license,” he said, “You have a network, you have an evening show and all they do is hit cards.
He then shared who would make the decision.

“That’s even Brendan Kerr (chairman of the Federal Communications Commission). I think Brendan Kerr is outstanding. He’s a patriot. He loves our country and he’s a tough guy,” Trump said.
Kerr responded by saying his agency was “not finished yet.” Changes have been made to the Media Ecosystem.
According to a press release, Nexstar recently announced plans to win rival broadcaster Tegna for $6.2 billion for $6.2 billion, further consolidating local television landscapes and placing Nexstar in 80% of American television-owned households. The acquisition will require final approval from the Federal Communications Commission, managed by Trump.
Carr praised Nexstar on Wednesday for putting pressure on ABC to remove Kimmel, writing to X that “it’s important to push back Disney programming that broadcasters have determined are not reaching the value of their community.”
