John Stewart, Idina Menzel and Jim Gaffigan are among the stars performing at New York’s 19th Stand-Up Heroes event, announced by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival.
On November 10th, at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, the event honoring US veterans and service members will also feature Mike Bilviglia, Alex Edelman, Leslie Odom, Jr. and Tom Papa. No additional comedians, musicians, or Broadway stars have been announced yet.
The show raises awareness and funding for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which helps veterans and their families achieve financial security.
“For 19 years, Stand Up for Heroes has been an opportunity to thank the extraordinary men and women who have served our country with courage and sacrifice,” said Bob Woodruff, ABC correspondent and co-founder of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “This year’s event continues its tradition of bringing together a world-class community of performers and supporters to recognize their services.”
Since its first show in 2007, The Stand Up for Heroes event has raised $113 million for military families. Past performers include Stephen Colbert, Whoopi Goldberg, John Mayer, Seth Myers, Hasan Minhage, Jerry Seinfeld, John Malany and Bruce Springsteen.
“Stand-up for heroes brings together the healing powers of laughter and music to nurture and honor those who served our country. We are proud to work together once again with the Bob Woodruff Foundation to unite our mission, which has been shared with acclaimed comedians, musicians and special guests. Comedy Festival.
