Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain are installed to lead the limited series “The Off Weeks,” which was green-lit on Apple TV+.
The eight-episode series logline states, “When divorce writes Professor Gusadler (Stiller)’s life, he struggles to put things together in “a few weeks” when he has custody of his children.
Stiller will be executive produced alongside John Lescher via Red Hour. Chastain Executive produces alongside Kelly Carmichael for the freckling film. Alissa Nutting (“Made for Love”, “Teenage Eouthansia”) serves as a showrunner and executive producer. Michael Shorter directs and develops projects in semi-formal productions and produces them alongside Jordanamorik. Executive produced by Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher’s WIIP. Executive Produced for Artists for Executive Produced by Peter Principal, Allen Fisher and Brian Steinberg. Dean Bakopoulos also serves as an executive producer. WIIP functions as a studio.
The project maintains both Stiller and Chastain business with Apple TV+. Stiller Executive produces and directs the hit series Severance. This is preparing for a third season after the massive and popular acclaim of seasons 1 and 2. Chastain will appear in Apple’s series “The Savant,” which will premiere on September 26th, and Apple’s “The Dealer” along with Adam’s driver.
Showalter, meanwhile, was the executive producer and director of the Apple miniseries “The Shrink Next Door,” starring Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell.
This marks one of the few major acting roles, as Stiller has become increasingly focused on director and production in recent years (with great success). He is best known for his roles in films such as “Zoolander,” “Tropic Thunder,” and “There’s Something About One Mary,” but recent credits include “Happy Gilmore 2” and “Nutcrackers.” As a producer/director, he is behind shows like “Retirement,” “Escape at Dannemora” and “In the Dark.”
In addition to “Savant” and “Dealer,” Chastain previously starred in the limited series “George and Tammy” across from Michael Shannon. Michael Shannon played George Jones and Tammy Winnett. Her other notable film roles include starring in The Good Nurse, Armageddon Time, Molly’s Game, Interstellar and The Most Violent Year.
