MediaInk Group Limited has officially launched a new subsidiary in Japan, showing a significant expansion of its Hong Kong-based intellectual property management company.

The board of directors has revealed that Medialink Japan was established on August 8th this year.

The new Japanese subsidiary will focus on three key areas to expand Medialink’s IP management ecosystem. pursuit of opportunities for mergers and acquisitions or strategic investments in Japanese IP-related companies, co-investment in Japanese intellectual property, and formation of strategic partnerships with Japanese IP owners and licensors.

Additionally, the subsidiary aims to strengthen its revenue stream by introducing a wider range of non-Japanese IPs into the Japanese market. According to the company, the expansion will enhance its competitive advantage, expand its sales network and establish the foundation for future growth.

The company’s footprint now ranges from its headquarters in Hong Kong to China, Taiwan, Southeast Asian countries and now subsidiaries in Japan.

Founded in 1994, Medialink built its business around content distribution and brand licensing, with involvement in content production, distribution arrangements and animation product development. The group works closely with media content licensors to distribute both animation, variety shows, TV dramas, and regional animated and live-action films.

The company has developed a critical digital presence through its ANI-One YouTube channel. It boasts over 9 million subscribers and over 2 billion viewing. The network includes Anien Asia, the Chinese channel ANI-One, and localized versions for Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and India.

The company secured exclusive distribution rights for notable titles such as “Tsunoki: Moonlight Fantasy” and “Jollan, Snow and Blood Princess,” from Nippon Television in Asian Territories, and was involved in the production of films with MM2 Entertainment such as “One Second Champion” and “Drift.”

MediAlink also operates Ani-Mall, a proprietary e-commerce platform that sells animation products and exclusive anime products.
