“90 Day Fiancé” star Jenny Slatten shared a positive update on her health after revealing she was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
“I’m still allowed to walk around and Sumit is still allowed to laugh,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, above a selfie with husband Sumit Singh.
The couple appeared to be in high spirits as they continue to search for a cure for the current incurable disease.
In a joint interview with People on Tuesday, Slatten, 68, and Singh, 38, detailed the terrifying symptoms they experienced a year before receiving their final diagnosis in December 2025.
The first thing they noticed was that she was having trouble swallowing and shared that she had choked “severely” when drinking water.
The TLC star then had difficulty swallowing pills and began experiencing migraines.
They told the outlet that although her condition appeared to improve slightly in the short term, her speech had become noticeably slower, raising concerns again.
“That’s when we knew something was wrong,” Slatten said.
Shortly before her diagnosis, she traveled from India to New York City for a “90 Day Fiancé” holiday party.
After watching her interview, several fans of the show expressed concern about her health, with some suggesting she get tested for the disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and leads to muscle weakness, loss of mobility and speech, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Notably, Slatten’s father died of ALS more than a decade ago.
“We cried and hugged each other,” Slatten said, recalling the moment she learned of her diagnosis, adding that they both felt “terrified” about what their future would hold.
Doctors told the couple, who first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in 2019 and have been fan favorites ever since, that Slatten’s ALS is progressing “slowly.”
A few months later, she decided to go public with her diagnosis in hopes that “someone might come forward” that might help her.
“I don’t want any more special treatment,” Slatten insisted. “Let’s live our lives as normal as we can.”
Slatten and Singh have relied on each other for support as they navigate this difficult phase in their lives.
“Honestly, I’ve never felt so much love. I’ve never loved anyone so much,” Shin exclaimed. “I used to…live for myself. But over the years, I’ve learned that doing things for the people I love makes me happy. I think that’s what love is. So we do things for each other, and it makes us both happy.”
Their continued love story will unfold in Season 3 of 90 Day: The Last Resort, which premieres June 1st at 8pm ET on TLC.
