Comedian Nikki Glazer is joining the Judd Apatow Cinematic Universe. She will star in, write and produce Apatow’s new film for Universal Pictures.

Plot details have not been revealed. The untitled film, described as a “modern, edgy romantic comedy,” will be co-written by Glazer and Sean O’Connor, who also wrote the screenplay for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, which Glazer hosted.

Known for mentoring up-and-coming talent such as Amy Schumer, Jonah Hill, Kumail Nanjiani, and Pete Davidson, Apatow has directed major comedies such as “The 40 Year Old Virgin,” “Knocked Up,” “Funny People,” “This Is 40,” “Trainwreck,” and “The King of Staten Island.” As a producer, he has supported such entertaining films as “Bridesmaids,” “The Big Sick,” “Superbad,” “Brothers,” and “Anchorman.” Apatow is currently working on another untitled comedy for Universal with Glen Powell.

Apatow and Josh Church will produce through their long-standing Apatow Productions overall agreement with Universal. Eric Byers, Universal’s senior vice president of production and development, will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Known for his raunchy, off-kilter comedy, Glazer’s career skyrocketed after his standout performance in Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady. She recently became the first woman to independently host the Golden Globe Awards, and will be hosting the event again for the 83rd edition in January 2026.

Glaser’s film and television credits include “Trainwreck” and “Inside Amy Schumer.” She hosted HBO’s reality dating series “FBoy Island” for three seasons and also hosted the women’s spinoff “Lovers and Liars.” Glazer, whose recent stand-up specials include “Good Clean Filth” and “Someday You’ll Die,” is recording a new comedy for Hulu in 2026. She also co-wrote, produced and stars in Paramount Pictures’ “Sliding Doors”-style comedy “MASH.”
