Whoopi Goldberg is feeling the Christmas spirit!
The View co-host and EGOT Award-winning actress revealed on The View’s companion podcast Behind the Table on Thursday, Nov. 13, that she’s going the extra mile to make Christmas special for kids by replying to letters sent to Santa Claus.
Goldberg said small acts of kindness each holiday season tend to have a big impact.

“I feel like everyone needs a little bit of help, and if I can help someone…that’s why I’m trying to work as Santa at the post office. I’m trying to receive letters, and I’m trying to answer letters to Santa from kids,” Goldberg said.
“It’s something we can do and it doesn’t cost that much, because we want to give people the ability to do something that enhances how they see themselves,” she continued.
Goldberg’s comments about holiday traditions came on the occasion of her 70th birthday, which The View celebrated with a podcast episode and a special birthday episode that gave a platform to a selection of Goldberg’s favorite charities.
Charities featured on the show included One Simple Wish, which supports child adoption; International Cow Project to fight world hunger. and “God’s Love We Deliver,” which focuses on addressing hunger in communities specifically affected by HIV/AIDS.
It’s important to Goldberg to expand her various philanthropic causes and give as much as she can, she said on the podcast, noting that taxes, bills and the cost of basic necessities are making it difficult for some people to make ends meet simply because “a lot of people aren’t getting what they need.”
“It’s not fair. People used to actually have savings,” Goldberg said. “And people can’t keep up with their savings because every time they turn around, someone else’s hand is out.”
