Teyana Taylor was honored at ELLE’s “2025 Women in Hollywood” event.
She opened up about the importance of sisterhood and showing up for each other, leading the audience to laughter and cheers throughout her speech. For the occasion, she stunned in a gold Balmain dress with a hood.
On Monday night, Teyana Taylor was honored at ELLE’s “2025 Women in Hollywood” event. After being introduced by Kerry Washington, Taylor took to the stage and spoke about sisterhood and the power of community. “I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years and I’ve gotten through it,” the singer and actress said, wearing a gold Balmain hooded dress. “But what I have continued to do for myself and for others is to show up. And most importantly, show up for the women in my life who have shaped me into the person I am today.”
she continued. “To mothers and babies, you show up to me every day, year after year, and teach me grace, dignity, resilience, and the power to never give up,” she added, shouting out her One Battle After Another and All’s Fair co-stars, including Regina Hall, Niecy Nash, and fellow honoree Chase Infinity. Sisterhood…Collaboration is richest when it is rooted in respect. ”
Using multiple hyphens throughout her remarks, she also captivated the audience with her signature humor. She revealed that she was scheduled to take a redeye flight back to Atlanta, but decided to stay at the event to take a group photo at the end of the night. “I love everyone here so much that I thought, ‘I can’t miss this!’…There are so many amazing women being recognized tonight that I don’t want to miss showing that photo to the world.”
She joked that the photo might end up on a digital cover, adding, “My girls get so excited when they see me on the cover of a magazine…so you guys invited me all night.” She also waved to the audience and said hello to Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, who were seated next to each other. “Hey Jen, girl, I loved you on Friends. I loved you on The Morning Show, girl,” she said as the audience laughed.

In a cover story interview with ELLE, Taylor spoke about this new era in her career. “I am so grateful to have seen all my prayers answered and all my tears wiped away,” she said. “It was tough because I had said I was retiring and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. It was scary, but I wasn’t scared to take the plunge.”
She added, “I’ve always had a strong relationship with God, and I felt Him saying, ‘Okay, do you believe in me? I know you trust me, but do you really believe in me? Can you take that teddy bear away from me because I’m going to give you something bigger and better?’ I told you all that one day I would be a great director, and the fact that it’s becoming a reality shows His power.”
