Shia LaBeouf confessed in a new interview that his marriage to Mia Goth “failed.”
The Even Stevens alum, 39, revealed exactly what led to his split from the actress, 32, on Saturday’s Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan.
“We were very unhappy,” the former Disney Channel star explained over the weekend. “I made a lot of mistakes early on, before I even tried to have children. I had a big, big betrayal of trust.”
LaBeouf said, “We tried to fix it, but it wasn’t possible. And we both became very unhappy. And it’s not good to be unhappy around the baby. It’s not good to be unhappy around the child.”
“But intimacy is important,” he noted. “I’m sure you are too. So that’s a pretty weird Tetris.”
The filmmaker, who has a three-year-old daughter Isabel with Goss, insisted he “couldn’t say much” about their split.
Regarding their current position, LaBeouf praised the “Pearl” star.
“Good boy,” he exclaimed. “This is one of the best girls that ever lived. She’s incredible, that woman. Incredible…always. 10 out of 10.”
LaBeouf affirmed host Andrew Callahan’s question about whether the couple was “divorced,” while insisting they were “good as is” and there was “nothing to fix.”
He said, “We’re in a good place. I mean, this is nothing new. … We’ve been there for a while, trying to find co-parenting, and we’re doing well. Even through all of this, she gives me grace.”
The “Honey Boy” star, who “still talks to (his) kids twice a day,” quipped, “If it was any other woman, I’d be like, ‘Fuck it, get out of here! I don’t want to talk to you!'” She doesn’t do that to me…even when things get messy. ”
He explained that he is trying to “rebuild” in New Orleans and is not worried about the custody details, explaining, “[Goss]is going to shoot a movie in France. I have to shoot a movie in April. So now that I have time, I’m going to fly out there and be a dad for a little bit while mom has to shoot a movie. … We’re a circus family.”
LaBeouf and Goss dated on and off since 2012, married in 2016, and broke up two years later, but by 2020 they had reconciled and welcomed Isabelle.
Last month, Page Six broke the news that the two were at odds again and had been breaking up for almost a year.
The pair’s marital struggles made headlines shortly after LaBeouf’s arrest at Mardi Gras, but LaBeouf addressed the incident in an interview on Saturday, claiming he had a “small man complex” rather than an alcohol problem.
“[My problem]has more to do with anger and ego than it does with drinking,” the Daytime Emmy Award winner told viewers about the “dirty, ugly (and) disgusting” brawl that ended with him being handcuffed in February. “I’m trying to navigate it. I’ll figure it out.”
LaBeouf, who has long struggled with public sobriety, revealed nine months ago that after nine months of sobriety, he drank kava and had a fall.
Regarding the longest period the “Transformers” star has ever been sober, LaBeouf said, “I was sober from probably a year before my daughter was born until a year after she was born. Then life became life. And then there was Kava.”
He said his previous sobriety was “not real” as he had “made a lot of decisions” to “calm everything down”, whether it was the court system or relationships.
LaBeouf was arrested again on assault charges over the weekend and is currently in jail.
Meanwhile, Goss attended the 2026 SAG Acting Awards on Sunday, where his Frankenstein co-stars were nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Motion Picture.
