Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for the Landman season 2 finale, “The Tragedy and the Flies,” now streaming on Paramount+.
After an annoying penultimate episode that ended with two shocks, “Landman” ends Season 2 with a bang. Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) has to deal with being fired by Cami (Demi Moore), Cooper (Jacob Lofland) has to break a murder charge, and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) has to learn a lesson. All of which ends in a satisfying way. Join us for our final Texas trip of the season. The outline is summarized below.
I don’t mean to be rude, but since Tommy was fired, Tommy and his family have to move out of this corporate housing, right? “For trying to run the company like a business instead of memories and dreams motivating her” — Tommy is really tearing it down, just like the fans screaming at the TV. Dale (James Jordan) is genuine in his loyalty. respect! Tommy, let TL (Sam Elliott) enjoy his (very!) young companion (Francesca Xuereb). “She’s not going to fire you. She could fire you over the phone.” Oh, Tommy! Damn, Garino (Andy Garcia) has a nice house. A drug lord might do something like that! Can we do more to clean up Ariana (Paulina Chavez) and her wounds? Oh sweet baby! Oh, and Pegin (Bobby Salveau Menuez) is back! Didn’t Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) have to work out in high school? Oh, well… Pagin is actually a smart and kind person… “He was no longer a threat.” Well, Johnny (Mike Harkins) looked so threatening! Cooper de-escalated the situation and took the rapist into custody. End of discussion. Is Johnny dead? Hooray! It would be wise to call Rebecca (Kayla Wallace)! She must know some sharks. Oh, damn, Rebecca is already working on that. That’s right, Ariana, let these cops do it! “Who the hell did he kill?” Tommy, understandably confused. Well, I like the friendship between Angela (Ali Larter) and Bella (Stefania Spampinato). Oh, Angela is going to kill Tommy. Oh, I understand. The crisis was quickly averted. Wow, how did Tommy completely avoid that car accident?!? Just “Final Destination”! “Everyone in the room with a law degree raises their hand. Oh, is it just me?” Give Rebecca a spin-off! Wow, Rebecca is amazing. It’s scary! And… in love? OK, Ainsley, good for you for standing up for what’s right. Oh, and Ainsley is becoming friends with Pagin. I love this gentle development! oh! I’ve often teased Nate (Colm Feore) for being a funny cop, but I didn’t notice his swag when he flew into Cami’s office just to quit. What a great chess move. Will Tommy’s pride get the better of him and cause him to have a heart attack? Garino vs. Tommy: This is a big business showdown! Tommy has his tail between his legs and looks weird. But he got the money, so nice – even if it was from his frenemy. “It’s like looking in a mirror.” Whoops, Garino hits Tommy hard. Damn, so much happened in one day. The sun is still out! Johnny actually died of a heart attack! What the hell? Billy Bob is eating this scene up…nom nom nom…oh, that aspirin thing seems like foreshadowing…I wish they didn’t leave this murder charge as a cliffhanger until next season. Why does Tommy have so many strippers on his phone? Oh, cute. I love this new oil company. Long live CTT oil exports (and cows)! Ah, the season is over, Tommy. OK, my last negotiation with God went well.
Until next season, “Landman” nation! In the meantime, share your thoughts on whether CTT is a success or a failure in the comments below.
