As the competition continues to heat up for Season 4 of Traitor, director Peacock has released a statement urging the show’s biggest fans to remain calm.
A statement posted to Traitors’ Instagram account on Saturday said: “We are committed to making sure our cast members feel safe, respected and supported on and off screen.” “The cast of ‘Traitor’ are real people, and what happens in the game should not lead to cyberbullying or harassment. There is a difference between discussing the show and targeting individuals.”
“Let’s stop ruining our passion for this show with unwarranted negativity and personal attacks,” the statement continued. “Thank you for your support!”
The statement comes as online debate about the season’s cast, particularly “The Bachelor” alum Colton Underwood, reaches a fever pitch. But this isn’t the first time Peacock has reminded viewers to watch their words. The streamer issued a similar statement on its Love Island USA X account last summer, asking viewers to remember that “a group of amazing islanders” are “real people, so be kind and spread the love!”
In “The Traitors,” reality stars from various series are chosen to be loyal or traitorous. To win, the Faithfuls must successfully vote out the secret traitor. The traitors’ goal is to claim the $250,000 bounty for themselves. This season, three people were named traitors: Lisa Rinna (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum), Rob Roush (“Love Island USA”), and Candace Dillard Bassett (“Real Housewives of Potomac” alum).
So far, along with the Faithfuls, including Underwood, Dorinda Medley, Eric Nam, Johnny Weir, Kristen Kish, Mark Ballas, Maura Higgens, Natalie Anderson, Stephen Colletti, Tara Lipinski, and Yum Yum Arocho, all are still participating in the contest.
