“The Mayor of Kingstown” has been renewed for a fifth and final season on Paramount+.
Jeremy Renner’s crime drama, created by Yellowstone chiefs Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, is returning for a short, eight-episode fifth season.
In the show, which first aired in 2022, Renner plays Mike McCluskey, a peacemaker among street criminals, cops, and prisoners in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan. In Season 4, Mike’s control of the city is threatened as new powers compete to fill the void left by the Russians. The climactic and violent season finale will air on December 28th, and the final eight episodes will be set in the aftermath of the bloody gang war.
In addition to Renner and Falco, the cast of The Mayor of Kingstown also includes Lennie James, Laura Benanti, series co-creator Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Alan-Headley, and Nishi Mansi.
Dillon previously hinted that he and Sheridan were working on Season 7 of Kingstown. Although the show has garnered critical acclaim with each episode, the series has yet to reach the high ratings of Sheridan’s other works, such as The Landman and Tulsa King.
Sheridan and Dillon will serve as executive producers on Mayors of Kingstown alongside Renner and showrunners Dave Erickson, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yali, Michael Friedman, Christoph Schlew, Wendy Liss, Evan Perazzo and Keith Cox. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
