One of the most toxic love stories ever shown on television has come to an end. Hulu’s “Tell Me Rise” will end with Season 3, creator Megan Oppenheimer announced on Monday, February 16, ahead of the series finale. The final episode will be available at 9pm PT.
“After three incredible seasons of Tell Me Rise, tonight’s episode marks the series finale,” the showrunner wrote on Instagram. “This is the ending that my writing team and I always had in mind, and we’re extremely proud of it. Your great response to this season inspired us to explore whether there were other organic ways to continue the story, but ultimately we felt like we had reached a natural conclusion.” My main goal has always been to uphold the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can offer, so it’s bittersweet to leave behind what was such a happy experience, but I’m so grateful that I was able to tell the complete story.” – Thank you for liking our show. We look forward to bringing you more stories in the near future. ”
The Hulu drama, based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel, debuted in September 2022 and told the story of a destructive relationship between two college students and the misdeeds within their extremely troublesome friend group. Starring Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, Katherine Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Benjamin Wadsworth, Alicia Crowder, and Tom Ellis.
The show unfolded in two timelines. One took place between 2008 and 2010, dissecting his student days at the fictional Baird College, and the other took place after college in 2015 and revolved around Bree (Misal) and Evan’s (Cook) wedding (and the weeks leading up to it).
However, season 3 introduced a new romance between Bree and Evan’s best friend Wrigley (House), and their relationship immediately drew fans in. “In a friend group, there are always people who spend a lot of time in the same space, but are never alone. When you’re in a friend group, too, you realize that I’ve never really had a private conversation with this person. So they know each other, but they don’t know each other on a personal level,” Oppenheimer recently said. Variety. “In Season 3, they are in many ways the most deeply traumatized people in their lives. I’ve always loved stories where people at the lowest of lows connect and find solace in each other and find a surprisingly safe place with another person, so that felt very natural to me.”
Although the third season was not advertised as the final season, “it was definitely the ending I had envisioned and pitched years ago,” Oppenheimer said.
Executive producers include Emma Roberts, Carla Price, Matt Matrasky, Laura Lewis, Shannon Gibson, Stephanie Noonan, Sam Schleifer, and Tyne Refaeli. 20th Television is producing, with Lovering serving as a consulting producer.
The final episode of “Tell Me Lies” will be available on Hulu on Mondays at 9pm PT.
