“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” has a premiere date set for Paramount+.
The first two episodes of the new series will premiere on January 15, 2026, with new episodes released weekly until March 12. The announcement was made Saturday at New York Comic Con’s Star Trek Universe panel.
Additionally, during the panel discussion, it was revealed that Stephen Colbert is officially joining the show – or at least his voice is. Colbert is the voice of Starfleet Academy’s Digital Dean of Students, making daily announcements to students and alerting them to things that require their immediate attention.

As previously announced, “Starfleet Academy” has already been renewed for a second season. This week also marks the launch of StarfleetAcademy.com, where fans can explore the Academy’s campus life, academics, and faculty.
“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” was also featured on the panel, which also included a new first-look clip for the show’s upcoming fourth season. The show has already been renewed for a fifth and final season on Paramount+.

Starfleet Academy stars Holly Hunter as the Dean of Starfleet Academy, and stars Sandro Rosta, Karim Diane Kerais Brooks, George Hawkins, and Vera Shepard as Starfleet cadets. Zoe Steiner, Tig Notaro, and Robert Picard also star, along with guest stars Oded Fehr, Mary Wiseman, and regular guest stars Gina Yaschel and Paul Giamatti.
The series’ logline reads, “Viewers are introduced to a group of young cadets who come together to pursue a shared dream of hope and optimism. Under the intense scrutiny of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become a Starfleet officer while navigating budding friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves, and new enemies that threaten the Academy and the Federation itself.”
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau will serve as co-showrunners and executive produce the series alongside executive producers Gaia Violo, Aaron Byers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Ross, Frank Siracusa and John Webber. The series premiere episode will be written by Gaia Violo and directed by Alex Kurtzman. Produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Strange New Worlds Season 4 stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Nabia, Babs Olusanmokun, Martin Quinn, along with guest star Carol Kane and special guest star Paul Wesley.
Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers will serve as co-showrunners. Kurtzman, Goldsman, Myers, Aaron Byers, Dana Hogan, Alan McElroy, Robbie Thompson, Syracuse, Weber, Chris Fischer, Mount, Roddenberry and Ross will serve as executive producers for Season 4. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment.
