It’s a vibrant mix of Snoop Dogg’s biggest hits and Christmas favorites that energized Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium during the halftime break of Netflix’s Christmas Day airing of the NFL’s Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game.
Snoop Dogg, Laney Wilson and Huntr/x of “K-Pop Demon Hunter” fame brought their own brand of Christmas cheer to the event. Martha Stewart introduced Snoop Dogg’s spin on “It Was the Night Before Christmas” in the “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party” segment, including lines such as “Gin and juice filled the air, so the fans forgot about the beef.”
Snoop entered the arena wearing a fire-engine red double-breasted suit and a long red coat with fuzzy red trim. He performed a masterful medley of his signature hits, starting with “The One and Only,” then moving into “My Favorite Things” and then “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang.” He was backed by a small orchestra gathered behind bars, with energetic dancers dressed in candy cane suits. A high-energy marching band added to the wall of sound.

There was a lot of talk online about the poor quality of Snoop’s vocals for viewers of the TV broadcast. The challenge of delivering powerful sound during a live broadcast was probably further complicated by the fact that Snoop moved around the stage and field during his performance.
A few minutes later, Huntr/x, the singing trio from Netflix’s hit movie Kpop Demon Hunters, joined Snoop for a pop rendition of “12 Days of Christmas.”
Later, country star Laney Wilson also appeared in a white sleigh and performed a spirited rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” Beloved Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli appeared with his son Matteo and closed the show with a powerful duet of “White Christmas.” Of course, the older and younger Bocelli were joined at the end by Snoop, Wilson, and Hunter/x in the classic network TV special format.
This is the second year that Netflix has broadcast two NFL games with an attention-grabbing musical performance in between. Last year, Beyoncé’s appearance added superstar status to Netflix’s first “Christmas Game Day” telecast. This year, Snoop Dogg and friends have put a modern spin on the sing-along feel-good Christmas event. The segment ended with a cute photo of Snoop surrounded by many of his children and grandchildren in their holiday pajamas.
Early Thursday morning, Netflix aired the first of two games in Washington, where the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Washington Commanders 30-23.
