“Saturday Night Live” star Michael Che slammed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after the former prince lost his royal title on Thursday.
“Prince Andrew has been stripped of his royal title ‘Prince’ due to his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein,” Choi, 42, said in the “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday’s episode.
“And Andrew says he can’t go back to being a prince unless he’s kissed by a young princess,” he joked, referring to allegations that Andrew sexually assaulted young women as part of his involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
King Charles formally announced that he was stripping Andrew of his title and honor, and began the process of evicting him from royal residence earlier this week.
The deprivation of titles applies to the Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh and ‘His Royal Highness’. Honors affected include the Order of the Garter and the Grand Cross of the Order of Victoria.
Andrew, 65, will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
As for his housing arrangements, Page Six has been informed that Andrew will be relocating to the premises of Sandringham Private Estate.
Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who has been living with him in the royal accommodation since 2008, plans to make her own arrangements. She also lost her title of Duchess of York.
The former couple’s children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their royal titles despite their parents’ scandal.
The formal removal was prompted by renewed interest in Andrew’s involvement with Epstein, who died in August 2019 after being arrested and charged with sex trafficking of minors.
Ahead of Charles’ announcement, Prince Andrew previously agreed to no longer use his royal title due to continued speculation, and said in a statement that the “continued accusations” against Charles “distract from the work of Her Majesty and the Royal Family.”
One of Andrew’s accusers, Virginia Giuffre, sued him in 2021 for sexual assault, accusing him of raping her when she was a teenager as part of Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
Although Andrew denied Giuffre’s claims, she and Andrew settled out of court the following year.
Before her death in 2022, Queen Elizabeth stripped her son Andrew of his military titles and patronage.
