Sidney Sweeney won’t be going under the knife anytime soon.
The 28-year-old actress quickly denied rumors that she had undergone plastic surgery (or any other cosmetic procedure) in an interview with Variety magazine published on Monday.
“I’ve never accomplished anything,” she told the outlet. “I’m definitely scared of needles. I don’t get tattoos. Nothing.”
“I plan to age gracefully,” she added.
Sweeney was amused by speculation about his appearance.
“It’s really interesting. I look up ‘comparison photos’ on the internet.” “I’m like, ‘I’m 12 years old in that picture,'” she said. “Of course I look different. I wear makeup now, but I’m 15 years older.”
It’s not just the appearance of the “Euphoria” star that gets people talking. Earlier this year, she appeared in a controversial American Eagle denim ad that played on the homophones of “jeans” and “genes.” Critics accused American Eagle of promoting eugenics and issuing a “racist dog whistle” while supporting the campaign.
Although Sweeney did not directly address the jeans controversy in the interview, the paper noted that she “alluded to it.”
“I play a lot of very polarizing characters, and I think a lot of people think they know me, but they really don’t,” she said. “So when people think, ‘Oh, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning towards sex symbols,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good. I feel strong because I’m doing it for myself.'”
Sweeney added: “I hope it inspires other women to feel confident and feel good just by showing off what they’ve got. There’s no need to apologize, hide or patch up every room.”
Sweeney attended the AFI screening of his film Christie in Los Angeles on Saturday with a fresh bob, debuting a bold new “act with confidence.”
According to her hairstylist, Glenn “Coco” Oropeza, the process of getting the star a bright blonde shade took an entire week.
Sweeney continued her parade of princess-worthy pink dresses for her latest red carpet appearance, wearing a belted blush Miu Miu halter dress.
