UPDATE: “Avatar: Seven Heavens” has an official premiere date on Paramount+. And what a date that would be.
The new Avatar series will debut on the streaming service on October 9th. This day will be memorable for fans, as it was originally set to be the premiere of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but the release date was moved up to July 25th after the film was leaked online earlier this year.
Like past “Avatar” shows, “Seven Heaven” is divided into two “books” of 13 episodes each.
Note: An earlier version of this article stated that “Seven Havens” would release all 26 episodes at once. A person familiar with the situation said the exact developments were yet to be determined.
Paramount also released the first teaser trailer for the show. You can see it below.
According to the official logline, the new show “revolves around a young Earthbender who discovers that he is the new Avatar after Korra, in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. In this dangerous time, the title is his own. Marking a woman as humanity’s destroyer rather than its savior. Hunted by enemies both human and spirit, she and her estranged twin must uncover the mysterious origins of civilization’s last bastion and save Seven Heaven.”
The cast includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aish Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Kartik, Major Khurda as Jai, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnett as Demin, Diane Doan as Zee, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.
Avatar: Seven Heavens is created by series masterminds Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who also serve as executive producers through their Avatar Studios. Ethan Spalding will also serve as executive producer, with Sehai Sethi serving as co-executive producer. Produced by Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios.
Avatar Anne: The Last Airbender will have a special screening at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24th, and will be released for streaming the following day. The film was also scheduled to have a week of awards screenings in theaters in New York and Los Angeles, instead of a full theatrical release as originally planned.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” first aired on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for three seasons. It is widely regarded as one of the best animated series of all time, and a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, premiered in 2012 and ran for four seasons.
