The outlet detailed emails Fisher sent to friends and family. “We did it. We got married! It was the best day of my life. Among so many beautiful moments, I wanted to see you all. I was thinking about you like everything was happening, but Sasha and I didn’t want to make a fuss. It was just us!”
In a 2009 interview, the actress spoke about her dream wedding (via People). “Celebrating a beautiful ceremony with family and friends is very important to me,” she said. “And when you’re out in public, it’s very difficult to keep it private and really out of sight.”

March 2013
In an interview with C Magazine via Daily Mail, Fisher spoke about her marriage to Cohen. She said, “(It’s) definitely not a normal relationship.”
“You know, in the past, when we were making the Borat vs. Bruno guerilla movie, we had these surreal conversations about, ‘How many people are suing us? Are we wanted in every state? Are we alive?'” Fisher said.
October 2014
Us Weekly reported that Fisher is pregnant with her third child with Cohen.
The report comes after Fisher dropped out of the Now You See Me sequel. A source told the magazine: “Filming will start in November, but she knew it wasn’t possible for her. The production period is about three months.”

December 2020
Fisher appeared on The Tonight Show to promote his latest Disney+ comedy, Godmothered.
Host Jimmy Fallon asked Fisher how he would handle Cohen’s dangerous stunt. “Fortunately, he doesn’t really tell us when he’s going to do something super dangerous until it’s over,” she said. “It’s not a normal question like, ‘Did you take it to the dry cleaners?'” or “What did you shoot today?” It’s like, “Yeah, I went to a gun rally,” or “I almost got arrested.” Nothing to worry about, but I’d like to participate. I’ve watched all cuts of the movie. ”
Later that month, Fisher spoke to People magazine about how Cohen contributed to his career as a comedian. She said she had been auditioning for dramatic roles but kept getting turned down. “Sasha was the reason I started doing comedy. I took on a lot of dramatic roles and was turned down,” she told the magazine. “He said, ‘You’re one of the funniest people I know. You should do comedy.'”
She told People that she was grateful to have had such a long relationship with Cohen. “We are celebrating our 19th anniversary this year,” she said. “I feel very lucky.”
February 2021
On Fisher’s 45th birthday, Cohen posted a funny throwback photo of his wife. “While I was scrolling through Instagram, I realized it’s my wife’s birthday today. I need a good excuse not to bring her a present…Hurry!!! (Happy Birthday, my darling),” he jokingly captioned the post.
At the end of February, paparazzi captured him making a rare public appearance. The pair enjoyed a day at the beach in Sydney with their children, as seen in the Daily Mail. The children were not photographed, but Fisher and Cohen showed up with towels and bags and water bottles. The beach day was the first time the couple were photographed since moving to Australia.
On February 28, Cohen won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in Borat 2. In accepting the award, Cohen expressed his gratitude to his wife. “Thank you to my incredibly patient wife Ira for putting up with all of my craziness,” he said.
On the day of the Golden Globe Awards, Fisher posted a photo of herself and Cohen dressed up for the big night. Cohen wore an all-black fitted suit, and Fisher wore a long hot pink gown. “Ready for the Golden Globes,” she captioned the photo.
Afterward, Cohen spoke to reporters about his Golden Globe win. “It’s impossible to make a movie like this unless you have an incredibly supportive spouse,” he said. “In the last 12 months, I’ve gone to shoot two movies, The Trial of the Chicago Seven and Borat 2. And these are not normal filming days. I often call at the end of the day and say, ‘I was lucky to be able to make a movie today.’ So you need a very understanding wife, and I’m very lucky to have that.”
March 2021
Fisher spoke to Stella Magazine via the Daily Mail about her family’s big move to Australia. “I feel very safe in Australia. I feel at home in this word. Australia is where I grew up,” she said.
Fisher added: “I’m happiest when I’m home. I miss being here. When I’m in Australia, I don’t feel pressured. I don’t have to say anything, do anything or be anything. I mean, I don’t even have to put on shoes.”
Fisher posted a series of photos congratulating her husband on his nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards for his performance in Chicago 7 and Best Original Screenplay for his follow-up to Borat. “Congratulations to Hubbs (pictured next to Abbie Hoffman) on your two Oscar nominations today – Best Supporting Actor for ‘Chicago 7’ and Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘BORAT.’ I’m also so excited for Maria Bakalova and her nominations! So excited to see the Academy recognize the challenge of comedy,” Fisher captioned the photo.
April 2024
Fisher and Cohen announced their divorce in a joint Instagram Story. They shared:
After a long tennis match that lasted over 20 years, we finally put down our rackets. In 2023, we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized privacy and have been quietly working on this change. We will forever share our dedication and love for children. Thank you for respecting our family’s desire for privacy.
November 2025
Fisher spoke to NewBeauty about how she’s getting through the first year since announcing her divorce. “I’m not going to lie…it’s been a really tough time,” she said. “I definitely feel like there’s something about Divorce Club that participants can understand that others don’t. It’s a different kind of grief. But I also feel like establishing a new identity after divorce is a lot of fun. You can reflect on your values and goals, explore new interests, focus on what you want, and rebuild your sense of self.”
“It’s very similar to that, and it brings back the passion that I had as a child, but I forgot about it as I was raising my children. Now that I’m married, it’s all about relationships that weren’t always at the forefront of how I spend my time. And I think that’s really exciting. Self-exploration and being kind to myself is all I’m trying to do.
