Rob Lowe is attached to lead the comedy series currently under development at ABC. I’m learning variety exclusively.
The show, entitled “The Ram,” is said to be “according to the host of the daily sports talk show, according to the official logline, “Rob Lowe plays the host of the daily sports talk show, brought to boost his reviews.”
Betsy Thomas (“My Boys”, “Mom”), Bob Fisher (“Wedding Crashers”, “We Wous The Millers”), and Rob Greenberg (“How I Meet Your Mother”, “Frasier”) act as writers and executive producers. Famous Sportstalk host Colin Cowhard will also be executive produced by Eric Tannebaum, Kim Tannebaum, Tannebaum’s Jason Wang and Payton Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Andben Brown via Omaha Productions. Lowe will also be executive produced in addition to starring.
The 20th TV is the studio. Omaha Productions is currently on a seemingly contract on its 20th TV.
On TV, Lowe recently appeared in five seasons of Fox drama “9-1-1: Lone Star” and Netflix comedy “Unstable.” Lowe and his son, John Owen Lowe, were co-creators and stars of the latter series. His other major television roles include “Wings of the West,” “Parkings and Recreation,” and “Brothers and Sisters.”
Omaha Productions was founded in 2020 by Manning. In addition to the first viewing on the 20th TV, the company also has a wide range of partnerships set up at ESPN, surrounded by “Monday Night Football,” with alternative television broadcasts between Payton and Elli Manning. Omaha is also behind the upcoming Hulu comedy series “Chad Powers,” starring Glenn Powell, inspired by the segment of Eli Manning’s series “The Place of Eli.”
Lowe is represented by WME, Brillstein, Latham & Watkins, and R&CPMK. Thomas was first represented by artists CAA and Austin’s Jackaway. Fisher is represented by WME and McInn Frankel Whitehead. Greenberg is represented by the UTA. Cowherd is represented by Silver Tribe Media.
Currently, ABC only has two scripted comedies from Primetime. “Abbott Elementary” and “Shifting Gears.” The station is currently preparing to reboot “Scrubs” with some original cast members returning.
