“Return to Silent Hill” has released its first international trailer ahead of its theatrical release in 2026, which will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the original movie “Silent Hill.”
The third installment in Christophe Gans’ cult psychological horror-thriller series, the film is actually based on the 2001 video game Silent Hill 2. Last year, Konami released a remake of Silent Hill 2, which was a huge success, selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide. It has won numerous awards, including taking top honors at last year’s Horror Game Awards.
Produced by Victor Hadida (Resident Evil, Silent Hill series), Molly Hassell (The Crow), and David M. It topped the domestic box office on its opening weekend in 2006 and grossed more than $100 million worldwide.
Gans also co-wrote a film based on a video game with Sandra Vo-Han and William Schneider. Akira Yamaoka, the original composer of Silent Hill’s eerie trademark music and the sounds of the Silent Hill games, will also be returning to the franchise. He will also serve as executive producer of the new film.
‘Return to Silent Hill’ will be released exclusively in cinemas worldwide starting January 22nd in Australia, Italy and the Middle East. January 23rd in the US, UK, China, Spain and Poland. February 4th in France. in Germany and Greece on February 5th. It will be held on March 12th in Brazil and March 19th in Mexico.
Irving plays James Sunderland, a man who must endure a terrifying town while searching for the love of his life, Mary Crane (Anderson). “When James receives a mysterious letter from his missing lover, Mary, he is drawn to Silent Hill, a once-familiar city now consumed by darkness. In his search for her, James confronts monsters and uncovers a horrifying truth that drives him to the edge of his sanity,” the synopsis reads.
“I hope you enjoy the thrill of traveling through a place where there are not only physical traps to survive, but also mirrors that reveal your own flaws and fears,” Gans said, adding, “The film is a twisted emotional journey through hell and back to save the ones you love, while having to face your own inner demons.”
Meanwhile, Hadida said, “Every camera angle, every sound, every moment that Kristoff creates is a completely immersive experience through a terrifying place.”
The producer, who also runs Metropolitan Filmexport, France’s leading independent distribution company, said Return to Silent Hill was “designed for the big screen.”
