‘RRR’ director SS Rajamouli has released the first look of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who plays Mandakini in his new globe-trotting adventure film.
The film is described as an “original action-adventure epic about a group of heroes on a series of dangerous missions around the world.”
Ever since his global blockbuster ‘RRR’ won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and recalibrated the global ambitions of Indian cinema, director Rajamouli has set his sights even higher. The film teams up the director with Telugu film superstar Mahesh Babu and features international star Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Malayalam powerhouse Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The title of the film will be announced at a fan event in Hyderabad this weekend.
Rajamouli’s earlier two-part Baahubali saga was re-edited as Baahubali: The Epic and released as a single film this year.
Jonas returns to Indian cinema in director Rajamouli’s film, in which she plays the enigmatic Mandakini, dressed in a mustard sari and balancing on the edge of a cliff with a pistol in her hand, in her first look. Her recent credits include the Prime Video film Heads of State (2025), co-starring Idris Elba and John Cena, and her short film contribution to the Oscar-nominated Anuja.
Telugu film superstar Mahesh Babu is teaming up with Rajamouli for what is billed as his 29th film (hence the working title ‘SSMB 29’). His recent release ‘Guntur Kaaram’ (2024) was a success at the box office and now he is stepping into a much bigger, globe-spanning canvas.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who hails from Malayalam cinema, is now an all-India star with films like ‘Salar’ and ‘Lucifer’ series. Already known for his intense system-wide roles, his participation signals the project’s ambition to blend South India’s star power into a unified global service.
