Sources close to the “SNL” alum say breakups aren’t easy, but Pete Davidson seems to be in control of his breakup with Elsie Hewitt.
Davidson, who has been vocal about her battle with extreme depression, “has never felt better than this week,” a source told Page five months after welcoming daughter Scottie and six days after news broke that Davidson and Hewitt were divorcing.
In fact, Davidson is still on cloud nine after the success of his roast of Kevin Hart, which premiered on Netflix last week.
“Pete was really funny and no one attacked him,” the source said, adding that his fellow comedians were “very supportive” during his breakup.
“The support he’s gotten from people has been amazing. Everyone at the roast, his friends. He’s got a lot of support,” they said.
Mr. Davidson is also trying to support Mr. Hewitt, the people said. “He has always been consistent and supportive. He wants her to be in a good place. There is a baby involved and that is their priority,” they said.
Davidson and Hewitt welcomed their daughter, Scottie, in December, five months before ending their relationship. And sources say they have no interest in reconciling, even though raising Scotty is their top priority.
“They’re over. There’s always been problems in their relationship and things weren’t good between them at all. It hasn’t been that way for a while,” another source previously told Us.
“They tried to work things out but decided it was best to go their separate ways,” it added.
Our first source said the relationship simply “ended on its own,” but admitted that Davidson’s work schedule was a factor. Still, they said, “When he was away, he would try to come home for a few days or she would visit, and they definitely had issues. Eventually[the relationship]fizzled out on its own.”
A source close to the ex-couple exclusively told Page Six on Saturday: “Pete is trying to support Elsie to the best of his ability. He has rescheduled plans and is doing everything he can physically and financially to make sure Elsie feels supported.”
They also claim that “Pete pays for all of Elsie and Scottie’s expenses,” including “rent, living expenses, and health insurance.”
The source went on to say, “Obviously there have been some personal differences that have caused a rift in their relationship, but he is fully committed to being a good father.”
Representatives for Davidson could not be reached.
