“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” debuted at the top of the Korean box office with 435,288 admissions and $2.8 million from November 12th to 16th.
According to KOBIS, a tracking service run by the Korean Film Council, the film was shown on 1,352 screens, recorded a revenue share of 49.31%, and grossed $3.8 million, including previews.
“Chainsaw Man the Movie: Rese Edition” came in second place with $838,963 (14.3% share), bringing the cumulative total to $22.8 million. This movie is an adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s blockbuster manga “Reze”. Directed by Tatsuya Yoshiwara and written by Hiroshi Seko, the film depicts Denji’s encounter with cafe clerk Reze, which causes him to be conflicted between intimacy and bloody chaos. Voice actors include Rena Ueda, Ai Fairuz, Tomori Kusunoki, and Maaya Uchida. Sony/Crunchyroll is responsible for market distribution.
“Predator: Badlands” took third place with $532,814 (9.1% share) for a total of $2.5 million.
South Korean road trip comedy “The First Ride” ranked fourth with $356,238 (6.1% share), bringing the total to $4.39 million. Directed by Nam Dae-Jung (The Great Battle), the film follows a group of childhood friends whose much-anticipated trip to Thailand quickly turns into chaos. The ensemble cast includes Kang Ha-neul, Cha Eun-woo, Kim Young-kwang, Kang Yeon-seok, and Han Seong-hwa.
Japanese thriller The Exit 8 followed with $140,595 (2.4% share) and now stands at $2.9 million. Directed by Genki Kawamura, the film stars Kazunari Ninomiya as a man trapped in an endless subway corridor who must detect minute anomalies in order to escape.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle” added $123,751 (2.1% share), resulting in $41.6 million in box office revenue. Family animation “Taffiti – Beyond the Desert” fell to $72,148 (1.2% share). “Bugonia” has earned $81,301 (1.3% share) and $418,884 to date, while “Coraline” has earned $71,680 (1.2% share) for a total reissue of $2.3 million. South Korea’s “The World of Love” was in the top 10 with $65,830 (1.1% share), reaching a cumulative total of $718,843.
The top 10 films grossed $5.1 million, an improvement from last weekend’s $3.8 million.
