“My 600-pound Life” star Dolly Martinez has died of congestive heart failure.
Martinez had been unwell for some time due to medical issues, his mother, Stacey Thurman, told TMZ on Monday, adding that he arrived at the hospital on March 29 with “fluid in his heart and lungs.”
“She was put into a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator the next day, but she never recovered,” Thurman explained.
Thurman said her daughter was surrounded by friends and family, including her sister Lindsey Cooper, when she died.
Cooper announced the news of his death at the age of 30 via Facebook on Saturday.
“Dolly had the most upbeat personality who could brighten up any room with her laughter, kindness and loving spirit,” Cooper wrote. “She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her warmth will stay with us forever.”
“Our hearts are broken here, but we are comforted by the knowledge that she has been reunited with her father in heaven. We can only imagine the joy of that reunion,” she added. “Rest in Peace, Dolly. You will always be loved, missed and never forgotten. ❤️”
Martinez appeared on season 10 of TLC’s “My 600-Lb. Life,” which follows a morbidly obese person over the course of a year.
Her stories chronicle not only her mental health issues, but also her struggles with food addiction.
She was on supplemental oxygen during the show.
Although she was not approved for weight loss surgery at the end of the episode, she lost 40 pounds from her 593 pound weight.
Multiple characters who appeared on the TLC reality series have passed away, including Larry Meyers, who died of a heart attack. Junior in June 2023.
