Mauricio Umansky slammed Lala Kent for implying he snuck into her DMs to ask him out on a date.
“Oh, she’s a really bad liar and she’s not even funny,” Umansky told TMZ on Tuesday while leaving Craig’s, an upscale restaurant in Los Angeles.
Added, “Really? I was actually thinking about posting it. But let me tell you, she’s a liar.”
The “Vanderpump Rules” star, 35, claimed on a recent episode of her podcast “Untraditionally Lala” that Kyle Richards’ estranged husband texted her and asked her out for coffee during his breakup with the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star.
Kent claimed the DM came after she brought up her separation from Richards during an episode of her previous podcast, Give Them Lala, and suspected it was about damage control.
She also claimed she never opened his private messages and said there was “no chance” they would meet.
The 55-year-old real estate mogul admitted sending her the messages, but said Ms Kent’s claims lacked context.
“I messaged her because she was talking about something, and I said, ‘Hey, you want to talk about me, I’m going to talk to you like crazy,'” Umansky claimed.
“She said on the podcast that she never opened the text,” he continued. “The last words of my email, which is a long email, are, ‘Let’s get coffee.’ And on her podcast, she says I invited[her]out for coffee. The only way she’ll know I invited her to coffee is if she opens that damn text.”
The outlet later obtained the contents of Umansky’s messages on Wednesday night and shared screenshots of the exchange.
“Hi Lala, how are you doing?” the text, said to have been written on February 24, 2024, read. “Hey, I’m wondering if I’m a player because you seem to have opinions and assumptions about me. I’d like to talk.”
“If you’re up for it, let me know,” he added. “Would you like a phone call or coffee?”
A representative for Kent did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Umansky and Richards, 57, separated in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage. The former couple, who have four daughters, including Richards’ daughter from a previous marriage, denied speculation of “cheating” in a joint statement.
“There was no wrongdoing on anyone’s part,” it wrote in part, referring to rumors of a relationship with Richards’ friend, country star Morgan Wade.
“While we are in public, we ask that you allow us to resolve the matter privately,” the statement continued. “It may be fun to speculate, but don’t create false narratives to fit an even more sordid narrative.”
In May 2024, the “Halloween” actress confirmed that Umansky had recently moved out of her Encino mansion and into a pad in West Hollywood.
“I’m used to chaos and things happening in the house, but the day he moved out was weird because I came home and thought, ‘Everything is so quiet,'” Richards said during an appearance on the Bitch Bible podcast.
The former power couple sparked rumors of getting back together after spending Thanksgiving together as a family and then “visibly looking like they were together” at a New Year’s Eve party in Aspen, Colorado, but a source told Us Weekly that the two are “really friends right now” and have “no plans to get back together or rekindle their romance.”
