Ken Leung will appear in the new Peacock crime drama “Superfake,” Variety has confirmed.
The show was originally announced to series in January, with Lucy Liu joining the lead role in September. The logline reads, “A small-time Chinatown counterfeit luxury goods dealer (Liu) ventures into the dangerous black market underworld to finance a respectable life in the suburbs for his family.”
Leon is thought to play the husband of Liu’s character.
Leon is currently starring in HBO’s popular drama “Industry,” which is preparing for its fourth season. He is also known for his roles in shows such as “Lost,” “The Sopranos,” “High Maintenance,” and the Netflix live-action version of “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” His film credits include Saw, X-Men: The Last Stand, Rush Hour, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Old Man.
He is repped by Paradigm and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
The series will be written by creator Alice Ju, who will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Additionally, Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie will serve as executive producers along with 3 Arts’ Howard Klein and Olivia Gerke. Ronald Bronstein and Eli Bush will also serve as executive producers, and Liu will also serve as executive producer in addition to starring. Produced by A24 and UCP.
Chu previously served as a writer and co-executive producer on the Netflix hit series “Beef,” for which he won an Emmy Award. Ju also served as a writer and consulting producer on the popular Peacock series “Poker Face,” starring Natasha Lyonne, with whom he also worked on the Netflix series “Russian Doll.”
Deadline first reported Leon’s casting.
