Lisa Rinna is backtracking on her previous “stalker” comments after Traitors nemesis Colton Underwood’s restraining order scandal resurfaced and the reality star received death threats.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, 62, took to her Instagram Story on Saturday and asked her followers to “please be nice” to Ms. Underwood.
“I realized that my posts that I responded to in ‘Housewife mode’ were taking on a life of their own and were causing serious problems for Colton,” Rinna began.
“I don’t want this to happen because Colton and I are great people. He’s been great and he’s a great nemesis for me on the show (and in the matches).”
“If I told you I wanted you to be a housewife, I’d take you, right? That’s what I was doing in the name of the game. But I want you to know, I’m totally compatible with Colton,” Rinna continued, adding that the two stars are “texting” each other.
“The fact that there’s a backlash is scary because I don’t want to hurt anyone. I’m here to play the game and have fun,” she added.
“It’s been a lot of fun. We’ve always had a great time with him. So please everyone, please be gentle. It’s a game, it’s a TV show, and we’re all doing our best. Please don’t send death threats or do anything that puts anyone’s family at risk.”
Bravolebrity concluded by reiterating that her comments were “all part of the game.”
Representatives for Underwood did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
In light of the controversy, the show released an official statement via Instagram on Saturday, calling on fans to stop the “unwarranted negative comments and personal attacks.”
“We are committed to making sure our cast members feel safe, respected, and supported on and off screen. The cast of Traitors are real people, and what happens in-game should never lead to cyberbullying or harassment. There is a difference between discussing the show and targeting individuals,” the statement reads.
“Stop ruining your passion for this show with unwarranted negative comments and personal attacks.”
Rinna made her first comment in response to a fan post jokingly calling out Underwood after he accused the former “RHOBH” star of being a traitor on this week’s episode of the Peacock series.
“Who does Colton think he can fight well? Good luck buddy,” this fan wrote, along with an image of Rinna saying her iconic “Did you drink coke in the bathroom?” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Season 7 Lines.
Rinna replied, “Let’s talk about you being a stalker…” It was like talking to the 33-year-old Underwood.
Underwood’s ex, Cassie Randolph, filed for a restraining order against Underwood in September 2020. The former lovers, who met on ABC’s “The Bachelor,” dated for less than two years before deciding to split in May 2020.
According to legal documents previously obtained by Page Six, she accused the former athlete of stalking and harassing her with “disturbing” text messages, and that he even placed a tracking device in her car.
In November 2020, Randolph withdrew the restraining order against Underwood with prejudice — meaning he had no intention of reapplying.
