Lena Dunham’s Netflix series Too Much has ended after one season on Netflix.
A person familiar with the situation said Dunham felt the story was complete after one season. The series originally debuted on the streamer in July. Despite solid reviews, the show didn’t seem to gain much of an audience, spending just one week on the Netflix Global Top 10 English TV chart, but reaching the top 10 in 27 countries.
Too Much stars Megan Stalter as Jessica, who, according to the series’ official description, is “a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties who, upset by a broken relationship she thought would last forever, shuns everyone she knows.” When every block in New York has its own story of misdeeds, her only solution is to get a job in London, where she plans to live a lonely life like the Bronte sisters. (Will Sharp) – Walking a Series of Red Flags – She finds herself unable to ignore their unusual connection, even though it causes more problems than it solves.
In addition to Stalter and Sharpe, the series cast also included Richard E. Grant, Stephen Fry, Janika Bravo, Andrew Rannells, Michael Zegen, Rhea Perlman, Rita Wilson, Leo Reich, Adele Exarchopoulos, Adwoa Aboah, Daisy Bevan, Dean-Charles Chapman, Kaori Momoi, Prasanna Pwanaraja, and Emily Ratajkowski.
Dunham co-created Too Much with her husband Louis Felber, and their relationship inspired the series. Dunham is also credited as screenwriter, executive producer, and director. Felber was also an executive producer, and his band Atahualpa provided original music for the show. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Michael P. Cohen, Sulian Fletcher-Jones, and Bruce Eric Kaplan also served as executive producers. Camilla Bray served as producer. The series comes from Universal International Studios’ Working Title Television and Dunham’s Good Thing Going banner.
Dunham continues to have a deal with Netflix under the deal he signed with Good Thing Going and the streamer earlier this year.
