Hulu’s “King of the Hill” revival has been renewed for two more seasons, Variety has learned.
The renewal will bring the show to season 17, with each new season consisting of 10 episodes. Hulu originally picked up 20 episodes of the series in 2023, with the first batch of 10 episodes debuting as season 14 earlier this year. Season 15 will begin in 2026.
Season 14 debuted to great acclaim from fans and critics. The latest season of the series received a 98% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and also debuted at No. 2 on the Nielsen Top 10 Streaming Chart. According to Disney, the series has streamed over 1 billion hours worldwide through Hulu and Disney+.
The revival brought back most of the series’ original cast, including series co-creator Mike Judge, as well as Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, the late Johnny Hardwick, Stephen Root, Lauren Thom, and Toby Huss. Upon Hardwick’s death, Hass took over the voice of Dale Gribble.
In the new episode, Hank and Peggy Hill return to Arlen after years apart in Saudi Arabia. There, Hank worked for Aramco Oil Company as “Assistant Manager in charge of Arabian Propane and Arabian Propane Accessories.” A lot has changed, but the old-school Rainey Street gang is still around, putting their own spin on modern America.
Judge and fellow co-creator Greg Daniels will executive produce the new season, along with showrunner Saladin Patterson. 3 Arts’ Michael Rothenberg and Howard Klein will serve as executive producers, with Bandera Entertainment’s Dustin Davis also serving as executive producer. This is the studio behind the 20th TV anime.
In an interview with Variety, Patterson spoke about why now is the right time to bring back The Hills and their approach to the world.
“Hank always represented a very common sense, pragmatic approach to things culturally and socially,” he said. “Whether it was leaning left of center or right of center, it was always respectful and sensible.”
