Kim Kardashian received harsh criticism from PETA after giving each of her four children new Pomeranian puppies for Christmas.
Ingrid Newkirk, the charity’s founder, told the Daily Mail Sunday: “Puppies are not stuffed animals and it’s so disappointing that Kim has missed out on the chance to become a spokesperson for rescue dogs and has been rightly criticized on social media for doing so.”
“Ignoring the homeless animal crisis is inexcusably callous,” Newkirk said, urging SKIMS founders to “call PETA or your local shelter the next time you want to adopt an animal.”
Additionally, Newkirk told the media that the 45-year-old Kardashian family “could now make some amends by sending their children to volunteer at a local shelter.”
She also suggested that the reality star could fund “an adoption, or at least one spay day, at a local shelter to stop the ever-growing homeless puppy crisis.”
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star came under fire after she shared a photo of her four puppies cuddling on her Instagram Story.
“The kids each got a puppy,” she wrote above the snap.
Kardashian has four children with ex-husband Kanye West: North West, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.
Newkirk also criticized Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian, 41, for welcoming a black Labrador puppy into her family.
The Good American co-founder shares daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 3, with ex Tristian Thompson.
Representatives for the Kardashian family did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
In addition to sharing photos of the puppies, Kim also posted adorable family photos of her children wearing Christmas pajamas from her brand SKIMS.
The Kardashian-Jenner family also got together on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holiday with “just family.”
