Duchess Kate is back in the race and in full bloom.
The 44-year-old Princess of Wales returned to Royal Ascot for the first time in two years on Wednesday in a daffodil yellow dress by Roksanda, the sunny hue a nod to Wales’ national flower for that day’s Prince of Wales Stakes. William wore a yellow freesia boutonniere, just like his wife.
The princess has worn this dress twice so far. That time, she arrived in Kingston, Jamaica, for the Royal Tour of the Caribbean in March 2022, and then for the Wimbledon women’s singles final in July of the same year.
A custom JT Millinery Pomelina netted straw hat in a coordinating sorbet color completed her look.
She completed her ascot ensemble with nude suede Gianvito Rossi pumps ($850) and Anya Hindmarch clutch with pearl clasp ($655).
When it comes to jewellery, the mother of three wore two royal heirlooms. One is a triple-strand pearl bracelet by British jeweler Nigel Milne that originally belonged to her mother-in-law, the late Princess Diana, and the other is a pair of diamond chandelier earrings inherited from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
It was Kate’s second yellow look this week. She also attended the Order of the Garter service in Windsor on Monday wearing a butter-coloured coat dress by Patrick McDowell.
Kate was absent from last year’s Ascot, missing the day before she was scheduled to perform, and will miss the 2024 event as she was undergoing cancer treatment. She announced in January 2025 that she was in remission.
Wednesday’s daffodil yellow is the boldest color of the Princess’ Royal Ascot look to date. She debuted in a white lace Dolce & Gabbana in 2016, stuck to red, white and blue for the next few years, and turned heads in 2022 with a Princess Diana-inspired polka-dot Alessandra Ricci dress.
