Kate Hudson isn’t afraid to express her emotions.
The Golden Globe nominee, 46, who co-stars with Hugh Jackman in Craig Brewer’s musical biopic Son Saint Bleu, said she cried “every day” over the movie.
“I cry every day because every time Hugh and I start talking about the movie, I get so emotional,” Hudson tells PEOPLE about the new film, which is based on the real-life Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder.
She admits it won’t take long to get Hudson there. “I cry really easily. I’m the type of person who cries easily. … I can look at Instagram and start (crying) right away. Especially (posts) where kids are saying something profound, it makes me cry.”
“I think I cry at least once every two days,” she added. “It’s always good to cry. It really is.”

Speaking to PEOPLE at the 2025 Gotham Awards on Dec. 1, the co-stars opened up about their collaboration and had kind words for each other.
“His superpower is to connect with anyone and everyone, whether it’s on stage or on set. He just wants to connect and make sure everyone’s happy,” Hudson explained before turning to Jackman next to him. “And at the same time, I learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give people is that you actually have a desire to connect with people. And I think you give that to everyone.”
Jackman responded, “I learned a lot from Kate. I’ve been in almost 50 movies and somehow I still work with her. It’s a very difficult thing to explain, but there’s a really fine line between being prepared and just acting on instinct, and there’s no one who does it better than Kate Hudson.”
He added, “I think being with her made me a better actor.”
Hudson is nominated for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy at this season’s Golden Globe Awards, which will be held on January 11th.
“Song Song Blue” is currently in theaters.
