Josh Hutcherson talks about filming an orgy scene in front of his great-grandmother

Rachel Sennott and Josh Hutcherson aren’t too worried about their family seeing their sex scene in the first episode of HBO Max’s new comedy series “I Love LA.”

“I warned my parents,” Sennott, who not only stars in the series but is also its creator, told me Tuesday night at the “I Love L.A.” premiere at the Paramount Theater. “It doesn’t matter, because it’s still going to be shocking. But they’ve seen it before. They’ve seen my previous film, and I even had sex in it.”

“They’re sex-positive,” she added. “My sex-positive queens, my parents!”

In the series, Sennott plays an ambitious talent manager who unexpectedly reunites with his former best friend, an influencer played by Odessa Azion. Hutcherson plays Sennott’s boyfriend.

Hutcherson recalled that his great-grandmother was on set when he filmed a group sex scene for Future Man, a sci-fi television series in which he plays a janitor and a gamer who travels through time to save the world.

“Over the years, I’ve seen some questionable things that my great-grandmother saw,” Hutcherson said. “My great-grandmother was on set the day we filmed the orgy for Future Man.”

He hadn’t exactly planned for her to be there. “I didn’t know that the day she was coming coincided with an orgy shoot,” Hutcherson said. “She was going to come no matter what. She was going to be there. She’s a very supportive great-grandmother.”

Hutcherson’s character also appears from the front with a giant penis on the show.

“It was a comedy. It was a comedy,” the actor said. “I was completely, well, completely undressed. My grandma was like, ‘You know, this is fiction. That’s very interesting, Joshua, what you do.'”

He smiled, “My family can hang themselves.”

“I Love LA” premieres Nov. 2 on HBO Max.
