On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart criticized President Donald Trump for trying to justify posting a now-deleted photo depicting Jesus healing a sick man on Truth Social, saying he thought it was “me as a doctor.”
Mr. Stewart pulled out a photo for the audience and quickly focused on the sick man lying in bed in front of Mr. Trump. A late night critic joked that he and the man had an eerie resemblance.
“I know I don’t have the energy and energy that I had during my MTV days, but I didn’t know I was already here,” Stewart quipped. “I didn’t realize that my appearance had reached the realm of leprosy. Looking at the photos, it seems like it was touch and go with me for a while. But thank God I was surrounded by family when I needed it.”
Stewart later explained that Trump’s post was “not received very well by everyone in the Christian community.” The backlash was so severe that Trump was “forced to come up with an incredibly plausible cover story on his own.”
The show then cut to footage of a reporter asking President Trump if he had posted a photo of himself dressed as Jesus. Trump responded, “I posted it. I thought it was me, the doctor, who posted it.”
“You’re not going to lie to us anymore? Are you done with it?” Stewart said. “Has this relationship gotten stale? Your lies used to have a real spark. ‘They’re eating cat and dog! Venezuela stole the 2020 election!’ And now the best you can get is, ‘Eh, no, I wasn’t Jesus.’ I am a doctor! I have to go back and find my happy place soon. ”
