In this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart attacked the media in a routinely denouncement of political opposition after mass shootings.
Stewart opened by letting the audience know that there had been six mass shootings in the last 24 hours. He then explained that when the country faced such tragedy in the past, “We express shock, express our sadness, offer our thoughts and prayers, spend a day or two on the appropriateness of raising guns, and do nothing until next time.” But now the cycle is, “Was this yours?”
Stewart then smashed political motivations into the mass shooter in several news outlet clips, saying, “The man is an evangelical Christian who supports Trump on the right,” and “He is a Biden supporter.
“It’s a tradition that reveals new genders in America,” Stewart joked. “‘Boom! It’s blue! Haha! I’m so glad to blame you! For violence!” The game is very ubiquitous, but now it’s often played before you know who the perpetrator is. ”
Stewart later explained that it wasn’t always like this. He said in the “good old days of mass shooting,” the media insisted that “do not draw attention to conduct designed to attract attention.”
Stewart then cut into clips of old news reports of the mass shooting. Critics say “I don’t say gunmen names or show them photos,” and “I don’t like to name gunmen so I don’t like to name them often to get attention because I don’t like to name gunmen.”
“Yes, boys and girls, when I was a boy, the American media will not only suspect the murderer’s name, but will not constantly show suspicions of the murderer’s only hotshot,” Stewart said. “Oh, dear Lord! Ah, my God! He could have done very good things with them!”
