Jessie Buckley arrived at ELLE’s 2025 Women in Hollywood event with one of the season’s most timeless red carpet looks. The Hamnet star and Women in Hollywood winner opted for a black Ralph Lauren dress with sparkling embroidered details and diamond earrings. She wore her signature slicked back bob and finished her look with a red lip.
Mr. Buckley is scheduled to speak during the event in Los Angeles. In her profile for ELLE, she spoke candidly about exploring the complexities of grief while playing William Shakespeare’s wife Agnes in Hamnet.
“Grief and love are not one color,” she said. “There’s anger. There’s shards of broken glass. It’s love and everything. Stories help you work through what’s inside of you that you don’t know how to let out.”
Of filming the film’s emotional finale in particular, she admitted, “I had no idea where I was going, and getting lost was part of that. I remember thinking, ‘Actually, maybe being lost is a very deep human thing. And if I can make them see that, then so be it.'” Humanity is a person trying to find himself at the moment when he is completely broken. As a human being, I’m a mess. ”
She believes the film shows, “Love is worth it. What else are you going to do? Lock yourself away? You have to live. Hamnet[William and Agnes’ son]lives on even when he dies. Shakespeare immortalized something in a way, created a way for this story, this son, this event that happened in his life, to become bigger than that moment. Maybe we just have to live like that.”
