Highland Film Group has released a first look at the spy thriller The Mark, starring Tom Hopper and Jessica Alba. Highland Film Group is handling international rights and co-financing the project with Aperture Media Partners, with production underway in Queensland, Australia.
In “The Mark,” Eden (Jessica Alba) is a spy on a secret and dangerous mission. She lures single father Ben Dawson (Tom Hopper) into her high-stakes world of espionage, when he is mistaken for the world’s deadliest assassin and becomes Eden’s perfect decoy. She uses the mix-up to expose a powerful network of corrupt politicians, making Ben a target for criminal organizations and the CIA. With enemies closing in from all sides, Eden must keep Ben alive enough to complete the mission, while Ben must summon his inner hero of action to survive and return to his daughter.
The thriller also stars Angus Sampson (Mad Max: Furiosa, The Lincoln Lawyer). Producer Keir Jam said: “We knew about Angus’ outstanding acting and great range, but seeing his talent firsthand on set in his home country, it’s clear why he’s so in demand. We’re lucky to be able to add him to the cast.”
Directed by Justin Chadwick (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, The Other Boleyn Girl) from a script by Ronnie Christensen (Passengers, Incarnate).
Alba is producing under Lady Metalmark Entertainment with Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier and Henry Winterstern of Highland Film Group, Jam of K.Jam Media, Kosaku Yada of Westbrook Studios, Tracy Vieira of Hoodlum and Peter Yakle. Will Smith and Miguel Melendez serve as executive producers on behalf of Westbrook Studios, Tracy Nyberg for Lady Metalmark Entertainment, Chadwick, Cesar Richbow, Latavius Powell, Jason Hope, Tracy Robertson, and Nathan Mayfield for Hoodlum, and Jeff Kranzdorf, Gevorg Semelyan, and Abraham Kesabrian for Falcon Films.
The film is supported by the Australian Government through location offsets, the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attractions Strategy and local government through the City of Gold Coast’s Screen Attractions Program.
