Jeremy Renner’s film production partner has accused him of sending her “intimate” messages, making her “fear for her life” with a drunken rant and threatening to “call ICE” after a rift.
Chinese filmmaker Yi Chou, who directed the documentary “The Chronicles of Disney” and the animated film “Stardust Future: Stars and Scars” starring Renner, initially made his claims via Instagram.
“Mr. Renner first contacted me directly in June and sent me personal and intimate photos of himself, a behavior that, according to public reports, he has displayed before,” she claimed to her followers on Monday.
“He convinced me of his sincerity by saying he had been single for a long time and was open to a long-term relationship,” she continued. “I believed in Him, the power of love, and the possibility of salvation.”
Chou claimed that Renner quickly “entered into a written contract” with the production company, but then “refused” to promote the project and instead “denied any personal relationship or professional collaboration.”
“When I personally called him out on his past wrongdoings and asked him to behave appropriately and respect me as a woman and a director, he threatened to report me to immigration authorities and ICE. I was deeply shocked and horrified by this behavior,” Chou claimed, adding that the “misinformation and threats” had caused her “personal and reputational damage.”
She went on to write that it “took a long time” to feel “the courage to speak out” about “such pain and humiliation.”
Chou further elaborated on her claims in an interview with the Daily Mail on Thursday, providing the newspaper with a screenshot of a video Renner allegedly sent to her via WhatsApp in June.
The video, which depicts a male porn actor and a female porn actress engaging in sexual activity, was allegedly sent with the message: “Oh yeah? 🤤 Is this okay??”
Chou claimed to have a “collection of photos and pornographic GIFs that he sent.”
She previously posted a photo of a man’s naked torso on her Instagram Story, which she claimed to the Daily Mail was an unsolicited photo sent to her by Renner.
“I didn’t reach out to him. He came after me,” she claimed. “I didn’t even know his name and I’d never seen any of his movies. He used me, he negated me, he negated our work.”
Ms Chou, 37, claimed that she had dated the actor, 54, for a period of time after first making contact. She previously posted a video on Instagram of herself riding in a convertible with him near his home in Reno, Nevada.
One night in August, Mr. Chou claimed to the Daily Mail that Mr. Renner became extremely drunk during a work meeting at his home.
“While I was discussing the doctor’s logistics, he drank a bottle of wine by himself, got angry, and continued to yell for two hours,” Zhou claimed.
“I had to share my location with my team, my parents, and my colleagues at Disney in case something happened to me. So they knew where I was.”
Ms Chou claimed she had to “lock herself in the room for safety” and that she “started praying that he wouldn’t come into the room at night because he was really angry”. She remained silent and recalled feeling “in fear for[her]life,” but assured her co-workers that she was safe at Renner’s home.
She provided the outlet with screenshots of messages she sent to loved ones that night, writing that she was “concerned” because Renner had allegedly been “violent.”
Some time after their professional and personal relationship soured, Chou allegedly told Renner in a WhatsApp message obtained by the Daily Mail: “Go to hell…you’re a pig…you use every app to send photos.”
Renner allegedly replied, “You will be notified to the immigration authorities.” Mr. Chou refused to provide the rest of the message to the press, and the message was cut out.
When Chow contacted Renner about the “negative” social media haters who accused her of “playing the victim” on social media, she allegedly replied that she did not know or control such people.
Representatives for the star, who nearly lost his life in a snowplow accident in 2023, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Renner was previously married to Sonni Pacheco, who accused Renner in court in 2019 of drug abuse, threatening to kill him and firing a gun in the presence of his daughter, all of which Renner dismissed as “nonsense.”
The former couple currently have joint custody of 12-year-old Eva.
