Jenny McCarthy is a talk show host and podcast host. Now, she aims to do both at the same time. Variety has learned that McCarthy is developing a hybrid daytime talk show and video podcast for Telepictures (“The Jennifer Hudson Show,” “Extra”), a syndicated TV label run by Warner Bros. TV Group.
The McCarthy series is being developed as 170 half-hour episodes and will be produced in the style of a video podcast but marketed as a daytime talk show. The daytime talker/podcast hybrid features McCarthy sharing celebrity gossip, sharing advice, telling stories, and taking calls from celebrity guests, experts, the public, and viewers. Episodes will center around everyday themes based on things McCarthy is passionate about, with segments also focusing on relationship stories, viral trends, and personal development/beauty/health.
McCarthy’s husband, “Boston Blue” star Donnie Wahlberg, will also appear in a recurring segment.
Telepictures will produce the show, with McCarthy serving as executive producer.
McCarthy is used to daylight hours. She served as a co-host on ABC’s “The View” for one year from 2013 to 2014. Previously, he hosted the pop culture talk show “The Jenny McCarthy Show” on VH1. And in the radio/podcast world, she hosted a daily SiriusXM series, also known as “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” for six years.
McCarthy also co-hosts the annual “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” with Ryan Seacrest and hosts the American Music Awards. Of course, she may be best known for now as a judge and star of Fox’s hit celebrity singing competition, The Masked Singer. She has been involved since its premiere in 2019 (she is being promoted as “Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg”).
Her long list of television credits also includes “Singled Out,” “Jenny,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Less Than Perfect,” “The Bad Girl’s Guide,” and “Two and a Half Men.” McCarthy and her husband, Wahlberg, appeared as herself in Wahlburgers and Donnie Loves Jenny (for which she also served as an executive producer).
McCarthy is a New York Times bestselling author of nine books and an entrepreneur who has created and launched brands such as the Blondies line of gluten-free ready-to-drink cocktails and the cosmetics line Formless Beauty.
