Jennifer Lawrence certainly looked “perfect” on the 2026 Golden Globe Awards red carpet.
The ‘Die My Love’ star shocked when she arrived at the awards ceremony wearing a completely sheer Givenchy dress with embroidery along the chest and torso, as well as embroidery on the hemline. Enough decoration to avoid wardrobe malfunctions and left little to the imagination.
She sometimes posed with a matching bomber jacket casually draped over her elbows rather than her shoulders.
The look immediately drew comparisons to another Givenchy dress Beyoncé wore 11 years ago.
Queen Bey’s 2015 Met Gala look, designed by then-creative director Riccardo Tisci, was similarly revealing and featured crystal embellishments on the chest, hips and hemline.
In keeping with that year’s theme, “China: Through the Mirror,” the singer styled her glittery look with her blonde ponytail raised to the top of her head.
Tisci’s third successor and currently at the helm of Givenchy is Sarah Burton. However, she may have taken inspiration from her own past looks from the same era.
During his tenure as Alexander McQueen’s creative director, the designer unveiled a floral-embellished dress as part of his Fall/Winter 2016 collection, which, as Up Next Designer first pointed out, bore a striking resemblance to Lawrence’s 2026 update.
Ten years ago, the designs featured sheer mesh, vine-ripened roses, and satin jackets on top.
Social media users were quick to connect Lawrence and Beyoncé, but not all approved.
“This is Riccardo Tisci’s remake of Beyoncé’s dress at the Met Gala,” one person commented on Check the Tag’s Instagram page. “It doesn’t seem very original…” said another, while another commented, “This is a throwback lol. A little late to trends but cool that she doesn’t do that! (Look at me, JLo!).”
Many others pointed out the drastic departure from Lawrence’s usually more subdued red carpet protocol. One person commented on her awards season opening, writing, “What a great way to let people know she’s back in the game and here to fight! 👏🏻.”
“Wow, this is shocking in a good way, isn’t it? Do you agree? I love it 😍 It’s so different from anything I’ve seen her wear before 🔥,” chimed in a second.
And there may be a good reason for the sudden change. Lawrence, who has worked with stylist Jamie Mizrahi for years, made the switch in the fall during the press tour for her film Die My Love and is now working with Ryan Hastings.
Lawrence’s first public appearance under Hastings’ styling expertise was at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, where she wore an all-black skirt and T-shirt from The Row accented with a giant diamond Belperron brooch.
The actress has kept almost everything sleek and monochromatic in black for the past few months, until her shocking floral moment. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for the rest of 2026.
