Jamie Lee Curtis, Tessa Thompson and Regina King will be among the honorees at this year’s WIF Honors, which will be held on November 6th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The annual gala will also honor Mara Brock Akil, Maud Apatow, Dede Gardner and Gabrielle Nadig, as well as Nia DaCosta and Judy Blume, who will receive the award in absentia.
Themed “Unity,” the award recognizes a shared commitment to equity, sustainability, and stories that illustrate how the human experience can transform culture.
Comedian Atsuko Okatsuka will also make a special appearance tonight.
“This year’s WIF honorees exemplify how artists are using their voices to drive change,” WIF CEO Kirsten Shafer said in a statement. “From up-and-coming talents like Maude Apatow to legends like Jamie Lee Curtis and Mara Brock Akil, their inspiring work on and off screen reminds us that unity and connection are what protect us, and that we have the ability to tell stories that reflect all of our humanity.”
Thompson, DaCosta, Gardner and Nadig will receive the Crystal Award for Film Advocacy for their new film “Hedda.” This award recognizes individuals who are creating opportunities for women in the film industry.
Akil will join King and Bloom to receive the Crystal Award for Television Advocacy for their collaboration on the hit Netflix series “Forever.”
Curtis will receive the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award in recognition of her stellar acting career, philanthropy, and advocacy for human rights and equality. Two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda will bestow the prestigious honor on the actress.
The WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award, which recognizes a rising star who embodies style and grace, will be presented to Apatow, who is credited with “Euphoria” and “Poetic License” and co-founded the production company Jewelbox Pictures.
“WIF Honors celebrates unity across generations, disciplines and stories, and this year’s honorees reflect that,” said WIF Honors co-chairs Victoria Alonso and Tracy McKnight. “Collectively, we stand together against division and remain committed to fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to express and create freely. We believe in the power of united action to transform our industry, and we are proud to celebrate those leading the way.”
